Brigitte Obermoser confirmed all her potential during the 1999/2000 season by reaching several places on the podium and winning the last giant slalom during the Finals at Bormio.

The skier from south of Salzburg racing in her fifth World Cup season was not expected to become one of the best skiers in that event after excelling in the speed specialities in past years. After an excellent season start at Lake Louise where she scored a career-best 4th place in Super-G, she was consistent in the speed events in the following months before ?exploding" in giant slalom. She surprized herself in reaching her first podium in GS at Are, before beeing 4th at Sestriere. Then, at Bormio, she helped her room-mate Michaela Dorfmeister to clinch the GS World Cup standings in dominating the last competition.

This also helped her to secure her spot in first seed in three specialisties and to conquer an excellent 5th place in the final Overall World Cup standings.

Very outgoing and relaxed athlete, the 24-year-old Austrian is aiming to qualify for the World Championships at St Anton. She was 1tth in combined at Nagano in 1998 but didn't compete at Vail in 1999.
