The new Norwegian star is on the podium again, behind the great Austrian champion Thomas Sykora Third in Sestriere, third in Schladming, fourth in Veysonnaz and now second in Kitzbuehel: it's Hans-Petter Buraas, the 23 years-old skier from Gjettum, a little village in Norway. Today his dream of winning a World Cup race was coming true. He was first after the first run, 17/100 ahead of Sykora; He skied well, showing that he is the man to beat this year. But the young athlete, despite his brilliant race, wasn't able to beat the great Sykora, who clocked the best final time. Thomas Stangassinger, 15th after the first run, thanks to an impressive remount, got the third place in the final ranking. Nimble, reactive, central, he kept the line well and clocked the best run time. Italy's Alberto Tomba wasn't enough aggressive in the second run, losing the possibility of getting another podium before the Olympic Games in Nagano. The Japanese Kimura, after the third place conquered in the last slalom, the first one of his career, showed dynamism and power, and remounted from the 14th position to the 5th, showing his good shape. Jure Kosir, in perfect shape, skied aggressively, showing his technical and psychological skills and got an impressive fourth place; this is a good pass for Nagano, even if somebody thinks that the protagonist of the Olympic Games is going to be the young Hans-Petter Buraas.
